WHAT WE DO

Through generous contributions of services, products, and monetary support from amazing New Zealand businesses and people, Massage After Miscarriage Aotearoa provides a tailored service to support mothers in need of solace following the loss of their baby.

Our initiative commenced in Tauranga in August 2020 after Michelle’s own experience with a loss. She was gifted a voucher for Sanctum Medi Spa and given flowers by the beautiful kind hearted receptionist, who herself understood the loss felt. With support of Sanctum Medi Spa and Myrrh&Co in Mount Maunganui who both embraced our vision, Massage After Miscarriage Aotearoa was born.

We have since expanded our network of donors to include establishments in Hamilton, Queenstown, and Wānaka. Our overarching mission is to engage beauty and massage therapists, florists, and various other businesses across New Zealand to extend essential nurturing to women who have endured pregnancy loss at any stage, free of charge.

If you are a midwife, a woman in need, or a business keen on contributing, we warmly invite you to connect with us today.

WHY A MASSAGE OR FACIAL?

Losing a baby at any stage in pregnancy is heartbreaking and recovering after a loss is both a physical and emotional journey. A massage or facial is a nurturing and healing experience and gives you a much-needed break from the experience you have gone through and allows you to escape the real world even just for an hour.

A gentle massage or facial calms your nerves, offers a relaxing space to unwind and reminds you to be kind to yourself and your body, you can relax knowing you're in safe hands.

If you are having trouble processing your thoughts around miscarriage, massage can also be an emotional release, bringing ‘stuck’ emotions like sadness, grief or anger to the surface.

ABOUT US

After her second pregnancy ended in miscarriage, Michelle Topham’s sister arranged for her to have a pampering massage at Sanctum Medi Spa. Upon arrival she was surprised a bouquet of flowers from the receptionist at the time who had also understood the loss she was feeling. Michelle knew she couldn't be the only one feeling this way and felt every woman in her position deserves to be nurtured, so she set out to offer this service - for free - for women across New Zealand.
